Everything Else
R7770: Collection Crashes After Applying a Recent Clippings File

The Problem

Clippings files made with Helix RADE 6.2b11 (5796) through 6.2b13 (5827) may contain incomplete structure data. The clipping appears to apply successfully (although saving reports a large number of structural corrections are required) but the collection crashes when reopened.

This problem is limited to field, power query, and posting icons only, but any clipping containing any of these objects should be discarded if it was made with one of the faulty builds. It is not possible to know exactly which build was used to make a clipping, but checking the file’s creation/modification dates in the Finder should help you isolate any suspect clippings.

The introduction of this bug varies with each of the affected icon types. The exact range of affected versions for each icon type is as follows:

  • Power Query: 6.2b11 (5796) on Apr 30, 2012 thru 6.2b14 (5827) on Aug 1, 2012
  • Field: 6.2b11 (5800) on May 09,2012 thru 6.2b14 (5827) on Aug 1, 2012
  • Posting: 6.2b13 (5817) on Jun 30, 2012 thru 6.2b14 (5827) on Aug 1, 2012

The Solution

Discard any clippings files made with those builds.

This bug exists in Helix RADE 6.2b11 through 6.2b13 (builds 5796–5827) inclusive.

This bug is fixed in Helix RADE 6.2b14 build 5828 and later.
