Two versions of Helix are currently available for new and upgrade sales. Here’s how to decide which version you need:
RADE Users
If your machine is running macOS 10.6 or later, you need version 6.2 or later. (Your Mac must also be Intel-native.)
If your machine is running macOS 10.5 or later, you need version 6.2. (Your Mac must also be Intel-native.)
If your machine is running OS 9.x or is running ‘Classic’ in macOS, you need version 6.1. (Helix RADE 6.1 is a Classic-only application.)
Engine Users
If your machine is running macOS 10.7 or later, you need version 6.2 or later.†
If your machine is running macOS 10.5–10.6, you can use version 6.2 or 6.1.
If your machine is running macOS 10.4 or earlier, you need version 6.1.
Client/Server Users
If your Server is running macOS 10.6 or later, you need version 6.2 or later.†
If your Server is running macOS 10.5, you can use version 6.2 or 6.1.
If your Server is running macOS 10.4, you need version 6.1.††
If any of your Clients are running macOS 10.9 or later, you need version 6.2 or later.
If any of your Clients are running Mac OS 9.x, you need version 6.1.
If all of your Clients are running assorted versions of macOS from 10.4 through 10.8, you can use version 6.2 or 6.1, but 6.2 represents a substantially improved user experience and is highly recommended.
If all of your Clients are running assorted versions of macOS from 10.6 or later, you can use version 7.0 or 6.2. Helix 7.0 is a major feature upgrade, with many new capabilities.
†Although Helix Engine & Server 6.1 are compatible with macOS 10.7–10.8, Helix Utility & Update Collection for version 6.1 are not. Click here to see the complete compatibility chart.
††To run Helix Server on a Mac running macOS 10.3 or earlier, you must use version 6.0 or earlier.
