| Creating the Abacus |
A proper mailing label should allow for the possibility of certain types of information being absent. If a Field for a particular record does not have information stored in it, the label should not contain a blank space or line where that information should be displayed. The Followed by and Followed/or tiles solve problems that arise from incomplete records. A Followed by tile is defined only if both holes are defined. A Followed/Or tile, by contrast, is defined when either hole is defined. A prudent combination of Followed by and Followed/or tiles can help create a successful mailing label Abacus. (In the example shown below, the "New Line" Abacus contains a New Line tile only.)
