I currently run several Helix applications using Helix 4.0 under Mac OS 9.0.4

I am upgrading to an eMac running Mac OS 10.3. Will my Helix 4.0 applications run successfully under Mac OS 10.3?

While the apps might run, (should run, if they are working under 9.0.4), you'll probably have much less annoying UI Classic to OS X quirks.

I'll give you one: When you opened Helix RADE in (a version less than 5.1), you were presented with a dialog box asking you what file to open (or to make a new collection.) Now, under OS X/Classic if you sent Helix to the background, then tried to reactivate it, Helix became unresponsive. In 5.(something) the Recovery Team fixed this (RADE no longer presents a dialog box on start up.)

That, and several other annoying things, have been fixed in the intervening years since 4.0.

(I assume you mean Helix Express 4.0... if you're talking, say, Double Helix, then the answer is Upgrade As Soon As You Can )

HTH,
_Ryan

(Whose first copy of Helix was Helix Express 4.2(ish) in 1998 or 1999)

David,
Considering our current financial position, I respectfully (and strongly) suggest: upgrade your Helix to the current version and not worry about compatibility issues.
