Helix and macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) Compatibility
Introduction

With the November 12, 2020 release of macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) Apple has continued support for only “64-bit” applications, leaving customers who rely on older “32-bit” applications (such as Helix) unable to install the latest macOS upgrades. (If you care for a detailed analysis of the changes in Big Sur, read the Ars Technica review.)

Because only “64-bit” applications are supported in Big Sur, and Helix is not (yet) 64-bit, users who rely on Helix will have to avoid installing Big Sur (or Catalina) for now, or use a product such as Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion to run older software within a virtual machine.

QSA ToolWorks is committed to releasing 64-bit versions of our applications, and we are putting all development efforts toward that end. See the July 2, 2019 issue of The Latest Word for further information.
