Helix 6.0 Exposé'dYou may see the patient now...2003.11.10--Anyone want to see our baby pictures? That's the kind of question that usually sends guests running for the exits at parties, but we know you've been waiting so long to see this baby that we're pretty sure you're going to hang around and have a look. A few notes before you do, however.... First, no, you may not pick the baby up or fondle it quite yet. We're still talking about a premature infant here. Second, what you're about to see is no sleight-of-hand PhotoShop trick. This is the real thing: Helix running under Panther, Apple's latest and greatest version of OS X. We say this because of the old adage that when something seems too good to be true, it usually is; we hope we've earned enough of your trust by now for you to accept what you're about to see as the genuine article we claim it to be. Finally, third, while this sneak peek should make it clear that this baby will soon be walking, talking and inhabiting a CPU near you, we still cannot (and will not) commit to a specific release date. We ask your continued patience (as well as your economic indulgence) to help bring this child into the world safely and with all deliberate speed. Here is a shot of the new baby throwing up all over the nursery:
Not a pretty sight, we admit. And even though we added that nifty Windows menu to Helix last winter, one of the best new features in Panther is Exposé, and if you have ever struggled with Helix Design Mode's propensity to generate lots of open windows, you are probably wondering if Helix will take advantage of Exposé. Wonder no more...
That's all for now. More to come soon. Watch this space! |
