Helix 6.0 Status Update: April 13, 2005

Start getting your Collections ready for OSX today

...a guide-in-process

13 April 2005--In a relatively short time, a new baby will begin showing up on a network near you. More like a teenager now, Helix 6 Server is undergoing internal testing and will be given its "driver's license" as soon as we are confident it can get around on its own without being a danger to others.

What You Can Do (Besides Wait)...
The transition from OS 9 to OS X is pretty radical, and there are a number of old technologies that Apple has chosen to let fade into history. Some of them, Helix formerly put to use. While you are waiting for Helix 6 to come your way, there are things you now in order to ensure that your collections handle the transition smoothly.

We've created a new FAQ document that illustrates the changes and gives you advance information so you can prepare your collections for a smooth transition when Helix 6 ships. We believe the items found there cover everything that you might need to think about when Helix moves to OS X, but if we discover more, we'll expand that page.

If this talk of radical change makes you nervous, rest assured that even if you take no time to prepare your collections for Helix 6, they will continue to work fine. Things may look a bit different, and some areas (like Publish and Subscribe) will no longer function, but your collections will otherwise operate normally.
