Sets the ordering of data for display and retrieval purposes.

| Inert/Non-Inert Fields |
Data in an inert field is not stored in the database. It is data used as a trigger or only needed for temporary functions. Non-inert data are stored in the database.

| Number data type |
A field that allows calculations of numbers. Used for storing data.

| Operating System |
Operating systems perform basic tasks such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories on the disk, and controlling peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers.

Osmosis, by Common Ground Softworks, enables a Helix application to operate on theWorld Wide Web with a web-browser interface.

| Picture data type |
Allows the storage of picture files external to Helix to be stored within.

| Popup menu |
A menu where a mouse click allows selection from a list of options that pop up. A static popup is a menu with options that are specified when the field is formatted. A dynamic menu has options that are taken from a relation in the database.

The posting icon lets users and application designers set up forms in which certain form operators (in particular, enter, delete, print, dump all) make modifications to data not viewed on the screen.
