| TS960: Subform (or list) won't open the selected entry view | |
| Category |
Bug |
| Problem |
A list template with an entry view set to open when a list item is selected does not respond. Opening the repeat rectangle's dialog on the template shows that the selection is still active, but when you open a view that uses the template (as a list or subform) and try to double click a subform line, the view does not open.
In Full Mode, Helix RADE does nothing to indicate why the entry view is not responding to the attempts to open a record. The view that references the entry view should beep, and the Why? message should inform you that the view is not in Show Form mode. |
| Reason |
The attached entry view has been put into show posting or show setup mode. |
| Warning |
If this construction is not corrected, bizarre behavior can be seen in Custom Mode, as well as in Helix Engine and Client/Server if the view is used as a list, and records are selected and opened by pressing CMD-O:
|
| Solution |
Open the view in Helix RADE Full Mode and put the view into show form mode. |
| Discussion |
An interface quirk in Helix allows you to select the records on a list view and press CMD-O to open the view, but does not allow you to open the view by double clicking a record. |
| History |
This situation has existed since (at least) the release of Helix Express 1.0. (Selectable lists were introduced in Helix Express 2.0 and the CMD-O bug has existed since then as well.) |
| Scope |
This situation affects Helix RADE, Engine, and Client/Server version. |
